RELATING TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY - LEGISLATIVE GRANTS

     Introduced By: Representatives MacBeth, McLaughlin, Costa, Newberry, and Schadone

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 22-6 of the General Laws entitled "Committees and Staff" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     22-6-16. Legislative grants prohibited. -- Notwithstanding any provision in the general

or public laws to the contrary, the general assembly shall not authorize, award or allow legislative

1-5

grants. For the purposes of this chapter legislative grants are hereby defined as monetary awards

1-6

to nongovernmental, or nonquasi-governmental entities.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
