It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

     SECTION 1. Chapter 30-17.1 of the General Laws entitled "Veterans' Affairs" is hereby |
|

amended by adding thereto the following section: |
|

     30-17.1-6.1. Veterans' assistance coordinator. – (a) The director of the department of |
|
1-4 |
human services shall appoint a coordinator in the division of veterans’ affairs to assist veterans in |
|
1-5 |
the filing of claims applications, to assist widows of veterans with applications for widow’s |
|
1-6 |
pension benefits, and to assist and coordinate the transportation of veterans in need of medical |
|
1-7 |
care between the Providence veterans’ hospital and the veterans’ home. |
|
1-8 |
     (b) The coordinator shall be a full-time state employee with compensation in the amount |
|
1-9 |
of thirty-thousand dollars ($30,000) or more depending upon the qualifications of the individual |
|
1-10 |
employed. |

1-11 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
