A N A C T

RELATING TO EDUCATION -- PRIVATE SCHOOLS

     Introduced By: Representatives Mattiello, Ruggiero, Hearn, McNamara, and Morgan

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-40 of the General Laws entitled "Private Schools" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     16-40-10.3. Neumont University. – Notwithstanding any rule, regulation or general law

1-4

to the contrary Neumont University shall be authorized to grant associate and bachelor degrees

1-5

provided that it is in compliance with regulations and standards for approval adopted by the board

1-6

of governors for higher education.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would grant Neumont University authority to grant associate and bachelor

degrees provided that it is in compliance with regulations and standards for approval adopted by
