RELATING TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS - BANK STATEMENTS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 19-9 of the General Laws entitled "Community Obligations and

Banking Offenses" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     19-9-35. Statement options provided. – All financial institutions doing business within

1-4

the state shall provide, at no additional charge, the option to their customers of receiving a printed

bank statement, by mail, in lieu of a paperless or electronic or electronic mail based statement.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would require financial institutions doing business within the state to provide
