A N A C T

RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES - WEAPONS

     Introduced By: Representatives Costa, and Chippendale

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 11-47 of the General Laws entitled "Weapons" is hereby amended

by adding thereto the following section:

     11-47-40.1. Lockbox requirement. – Notwithstanding any law, rule or regulation to the

contrary, no gun shop licensee shall be required to maintain an outside lockbox or other

1-5

receptacle containing a key to such premises. Provided, however, that any such licensee may

1-6

voluntarily maintain such lockbox or receptacle.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
