EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DELIA P. (REGO) LIMA | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the |
|

passing of Delia P. (Rego) Lima, affectionately known as “Dee,” a remarkable woman whose |
|
1-3 |
love, compassion, and willingness to help those in need, left an indelible impression on everyone |
|
1-4 |
she met; and |
|
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, Born in West Warwick, Dee was the eldest daughter of Manuel and |
|
1-6 |
Teolinda (Silva) Rego, the devoted wife of Felix A. Lima, the loving mother of son Wayne and |
|
1-7 |
daughter-in-law, Sharon Rego, and proud grandmother of Stacy Rego; and |
|
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Dee was a true partner to her husband of sixty-six years, Felix, forging a |
|
1-9 |
“rare and true love story,” while creating a loving home for their family and friends in |
|
1-10 |
Cumberland, where she lived for her entire married life; and |
|
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Dee’s hard working, caring and compassionate nature led her to a long and |
|
1-12 |
fulfilling career as a registered nurse, and while continuing her nursing commitment, earned a |
|
1-13 |
degree in cosmetology, also practicing as a licensed cosmetician for many years; and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, A caring and devout friend, Dee established strong ties to the community as |
|
1-15 |
a communicant, Eucharistic Minister, and a CCD teacher at Our Lady of Fatima Church for an |
|
1-16 |
amazing fifty-three years; and |
|
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, As a member of the Cumberland Lion’s Club, Dee received the Melvin |
|
1-18 |
Jones Award, the Club’s highest form of recognition, a fellowship award acknowledging |
|
1-19 |
outstanding individuals who embody the humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and |
|
1-20 |
purpose of Lionism; and |
|
2-21 |
     WHEREAS, Dee was an accomplished bowler and avid dancer, renowned for her grace |
|
2-22 |
and skill as she “cut a rug” with her partner and husband, Felix; and |
|
2-23 |
     WHEREAS, Dee’s kindness, warmth, and love of family will live on for many years to |
|
2-24 |
come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by the quality of this |
|
2-25 |
remarkable lady; and |
|
2-26 |
     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of Dee, |
|
2-27 |
so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day of her |
|
2-28 |
life; now, therefore be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
|
2-30 |
Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to those that knew and loved |
|
2-31 |
her, on the passing of Delia P. (Rego) Lima; and be it further |
|
2-32 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-33 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Felix Lima. |
