A N A C T

RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS

     Introduced By: Representatives Brien, and Baldelli-Hunt

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 28-7 of the General Laws entitled "Labor Relations Act" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     28-7-49.1. Minimum payment for health care benefits. – No collective bargaining

1-4

agreement covering any group or groups of public teachers, police officers, firefighters,

1-5

municipal employees of any city, town, school district or fire district, or any state or other public

1-6

employee, and no extension of any such collective bargaining agreement in effect as of April 1,

1-7

2010 shall provide for an employee contribution of less than twenty-five percent (25%) of the

1-8

premium costs of health care and dental benefits.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would require all state and local public employees to pay twenty-five percent

(25%) of the premium costs of health care and dental benefits in any collective bargaining

2-3

agreement executed with an effective date on or after April 1, 2010 or any extension effective

2-4

after April 1, 2010.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
