HONORING SENATOR FRANK T. CAPRIO FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE | |

STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

      WHEREAS, Senator Frank T. Caprio was first elected to the Rhode Island Senate on |
|
1-2 |
November 8, 1994. He has commendably represented the citizens of District 5, which |
|
1-3 |
encompasses neighborhoods in the City of Providence; and |
|
1-4 |
      WHEREAS, Hard work and public service were traits that the Caprio family encouraged |
|
1-5 |
in Senator Caprio at a very young age. His grandparents instilled in him the value of hard work, |
|
1-6 |
and his mother and father taught him to strive for the American Dream, but to always give back |
|
1-7 |
to the community; and |
|
1-8 |
      WHEREAS, After graduating from Bishop Hendricken High School, Senator Caprio |
|
1-9 |
continued his education receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Harvard University and his Juris |
|
1-10 |
Doctor from Suffolk Law School. During his high school and college years, he was a standout |
|
1-11 |
athlete and a noted scholar. He met and married his lovely wife Gabriella, and he is the father of |
|
1-12 |
two children, Ashley and Frank II; and |
|
1-13 |
      WHEREAS, In addition to serving for the past twelve years in the Senate, Senator Caprio |
|
1-14 |
also served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 1991 until 1994, and was a |
|
1-15 |
Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1988; and |
|
1-16 |
      WHEREAS, Senator Caprio has served the Rhode Island Senate with distinction and a |
|
1-17 |
deep commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. He is a |
|
1-18 |
current member and was previously the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. During his |
|
1-19 |
time as Chairman, he worked to make affordable housing a priority. He was instrumental in |
|
2-1 |
helping to devise a formula to secure funding for both the Neighborhood Opportunities Program |
|
2-2 |
and Crossroads Rhode Island; and |
|
2-3 |
      WHEREAS, In addition to the copious hours he devotes to the State House, Senator |
|
2-4 |
Caprio has been active with various civic and professional groups including serving on the Board |
|
2-5 |
and as past President of the Aurora Civic Association, and the Boards of the Harvard Club of |
|
2-6 |
Rhode Island and Bishop Hendricken High School. He is also a member of the Justinian Law |
|
2-7 |
Society of Rhode Island, the Knights of Columbus, and the Rhode Island and Massachusetts State |
|
2-8 |
and Federal Bar Associations; and |
|
2-9 |
      WHEREAS, As a practicing lawyer, Senator Caprio has brought a wealth of legal |
|
2-10 |
knowledge to the General Assembly. When combined with his undergraduate major in |
|
2-11 |
Economics, Senator Caprio’s unique erudition has helped to ensure that all Rhode Islanders enjoy |
|
2-12 |
a brighter and more prosperous future; now, therefore be it |
|
2-13 |
      RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-14 |
hereby honors Senator Frank T. Caprio as he concludes his service in the Rhode Island General |
|
2-15 |
Assembly. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our sincere wishes for his continued |
|
2-16 |
health, happiness and success; and be it further |
|
2-17 |
      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-18 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Frank T. Caprio. |
