HONORING REPRESENTATIVE JOSEPH J. VOCCOLA FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE | |

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

      WHEREAS, Representative Joseph J. Voccola was first elected to the Rhode Island |
|

House of Representatives on November 8, 1994. He has commendably represented the citizens |
|
1-3 |
of District 43, which encompasses neighborhoods in the Town of Johnston; and |
|
1-4 |
      WHEREAS, Joseph Voccola graduated from Moses Brown School. He continued his |
|
1-5 |
education receiving degrees from Boston University and the New England School of Law. He |
|
1-6 |
met and married his lovely wife Donna and together the couple have two children, Jordan Alyssa |
|
1-7 |
and Joseph John; and |
|
1-8 |
      WHEREAS, Representative Voccola began his political service to the people of Johnston |
|
1-9 |
on the Johnston School Committee, where he chaired the School Building Committee; and |
|
1-10 |
      WHEREAS, For the past twelve years, Representative Voccola has served the General |
|
1-11 |
Assembly with distinction, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of the |
|
1-12 |
State of Rhode Island; and |
|
1-13 |
      WHEREAS, Earning the respect and esteem of his peers, Representative Voccola has |
|
1-14 |
been a member of the House Separation of Powers Committee, and the Committee on |
|
1-15 |
Environment and Natural Resources; and |
|
1-16 |
      WHEREAS, In addition to the copious hours he devotes to the State House, |
|
1-17 |
Representative Voccola has also been active with various civic and professional groups including: |
|
1-18 |
the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Bar Association, the Rhode Island |
|
1-19 |
Trial Lawyers Association, and the Justinian Law Society of Rhode Island. In addition, he is a |
|

communicant of Our Lady of Grace Parish, and is a member of the Sons of Italy , Loggia Vittoria |
|

Lodge, #585; and |
|

      WHEREAS, As a practicing lawyer, Representative Voccola has brought a wealth of legal |
|
2-4 |
knowledge to the General Assembly, helping to ensure that all Rhode Islanders enjoy a brighter |
|
2-5 |
and more prosperous future; now, therefore be it |
|
2-6 |
      RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
|
2-7 |
     Providence Plantations hereby honors Representative Joseph J. Voccola as he concludes his |
|
2-8 |
service in the Rhode Island General Assembly. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our |
|
2-9 |
sincere wishes for his continued health, happiness and success; and be it further |
|
2-10 |
      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-11 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Joseph J. Voccola. |
