HONORING CLIFFORD WALLACE ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER FORTY YEARS OF | |
DEDICATED SERVICE WITH THE PAWTUCKET SCHOOL DEPARTMENT | |

     WHEREAS, A dedicated, innovative educator and administrator since September of |

1966, Cliff Wallace has distinguished himself throughout his career in education. His leadership |
1-3 |
as Principal of Goff Junior High School, since assuming the position in 1984, has clearly been |
1-4 |
exemplary. He has earned the admiration of his colleagues, and the gratitude and respect of all of |
1-5 |
the children he has guided for the past four decades; and |
1-6 |
      WHEREAS, Cliff became the Principal of Goff Junior High School upon the retirement |
1-7 |
of Principal Thomas F. Kilmartin. He implemented a school philosophy involving the team |
1-8 |
concept and interdisciplinary learning. Although faced with the realities of budget cuts during his |
1-9 |
tenure at Goff, Mr. Wallace has, nevertheless, guided the school in such a way as to provide |
1-10 |
excellent educational opportunities for all of the city’s students; and |
1-11 |
      WHEREAS, As a young man, Cliff followed his heart and began on the path to a career |
1-12 |
in education. He graduated from Providence College with a Bachelors’ degree in the field of |
1-13 |
education, and went on to attain his Masters’ degree from Rhode Island College; and |
1-14 |
      WHEREAS, To the very good fortune of many a Pawtucket student, Cliff began his |
1-15 |
career as a social studies and science teacher at Jenks Junior High in 1966. He always |
1-16 |
endeavored to create a nurturing and welcoming environment for the students; and |
1-17 |
      WHEREAS, Over the past forty years, Cliff has worked with young people in the |
1-18 |
Pawtucket School System as a teacher, a Guidance Counselor, the Head Guidance Counselor, the |
1-19 |
Assistant Principal of Attendance and Discipline, and for the past twenty-two years, as Principal |

of Goff Junior High; and |
2-2 |
      WHEREAS, Cliff is retiring on June 31, 2006 after forty years of dedicated, devoted and |
2-3 |
distinguished service to the students and citizens of Pawtucket. The accomplishments and strides |
2-4 |
he has made in the educational experience for the children of Pawtucket will be felt for |
2-5 |
generations; now, therefore be it |
2-6 |
      RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-7 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors and commends Cliff Wallace on his retirement after forty |
2-8 |
years of devoted service to thousands of young people in Pawtucket’s Public Schools. We thank |
2-9 |
him for all his efforts and wish him good health, fulfillment and much success in all his future |
2-10 |
endeavors; and be it further |
2-11 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-12 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Clifford Wallace. |
