S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING DONALD KETTELLE ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 44 YEARS OF

DEVOTED AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Donald Kettelle was born in East Greenwich in 1938 and graduated from

East Greenwich High School in 1957. Donald was an outstanding athlete. He was a three sport

1-3

star in football, basketball and baseball, but it was playing football that made him a Rhode Island

1-4

high school legend; and

1-5

     WHEREAS, Donald was All-State in football in 1956 playing running back and led East

1-6

Greenwich to an undefeated season. He is the only Rhode Island high school football player to

1-7

ever earn a full scholarship to a major school in Texas. Donald played football for Baylor

1-8

University. In honor of Donald Kettelle's many athletic accomplishments in high school, he was

1-9

inducted into the East Greenwich Athletic Hall of Fame; and

1-10

     WHEREAS, Donald began his law enforcement career in 1960 when he became a

1-11

member of the East Greenwich Police Department. He then joined the Rhode Island State Police

1-12

in 1967 and retired as a Captain in 1992. Donald then was appointed the Police Chief of Foster in

1-13

July of 1992, a position he has held for more than twelve years; and

1-14

     WHEREAS, Regardless of what capacity or department he has served, Donald has

1-15

always performed his duties with honor, integrity, valor and distinction. He has always dedicated

1-16

himself and his life to serving and protecting the lives and property of the public he has sworn to

1-17

defend; now, therefore be it

1-18

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

1-19

hereby thanks Donald Kettelle for his many years of dedicated service as a police officer

2-1

protecting the pubic, and wishes him a most happy and joyous retirement along with his wife Ann

2-2

Lancellott and his two children Kyle and Kammie; and be it further

2-3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Foster Police Chief Donald Kettelle.
