HONORING JACQUELINE WHITE ON HER RETIREMENT AS PRESIDENT OF THE | |

CRANSTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE | |

     WHEREAS, Jacqueline White is being honored for her outstanding and unsurpassed |
|

service as President of the Cranston School Committee; and |
|

     WHEREAS, During Jacqueline's 16 years of selfless dedication and commitment to the |
|
1-4 |
Cranston School Committee, she has been responsible for a great number of programs promoting |
|
1-5 |
academic integrity, such as: revised teacher evaluation system, revised interview process for |
|
1-6 |
hiring new teachers, curriculum revision in all areas, lowering class size, full-time reading teacher |
|
1-7 |
in every school, fostered the process to negotiate concessions from all school department unions |
|
1-8 |
during city budget crisis, instrumental in negotiating coverage change for all school department |
|
1-9 |
personnel from Classic Blue Cross to Health Mate Coast to Coast, initiated through resolution |
|
1-10 |
school committee negotiating its own contracts and developed and implemented the Cranston |
|
1-11 |
Sports Hall of Fame (funds raised supported school athletic programs during difficult financial |
|
1-12 |
times). She has also strongly supported a number of programs benefiting the children in the |
|
1-13 |
Cranston School System; and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Jacqueline's leadership as President of the Cranston School Committee as |
|
1-15 |
well as her role as a member of the school committee serving Ward 3 for 4 years and citywide for |
|
1-16 |
12 years, Chairperson of the Cranston School Committee for 6 years and Clerk of the school |
|
1-17 |
committee for 10 years is unparalleled; and |
|
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, In Jacqueline's consistency to assist children in all facets of life, she also |
|
1-19 |
served on the 21st Century Grant Committee (a committee for extended school year activities for |
|
2-1 |
all Bain Middle School students), with grants totaling $350,000, Special Education Parent |
|
2-2 |
Advisory Board, Cranston Education Advisory Board, Title 1 Parent Involvement Committee, |
|
2-3 |
PTA, Girl Scout leader and committee member of the Cranston Hall of Fame; and |
|
2-4 |
     WHEREAS, Jacqueline put her heart and soul in every position she held and the outcome |
|
2-5 |
of that commitment is proven by the success of the Cranston Schools. It is only fitting to set aside |
|
2-6 |
a time where we honor this individual for her commitment; now, therefore be it |
|
2-7 |
     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-8 |
hereby congratulates this extraordinary individual on the occasion of her retirement as President |
|
2-9 |
of the Cranston School Committee. The City of Cranston should be proud and grateful to have |
|
2-10 |
had the services of Jacqueline White. We wish her the very best health and future happiness; and |
|
2-11 |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-13 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jacqueline White. |
