CONGRATULATING JOHN L. PINI ON HIS RETIREMENT AS SUPERINTENDENT OF | |
THE CHARIHO REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT | |

     WHEREAS, John L. Pini is retiring as Superintendent of the Chariho Regional School |
1-2 |
District after thirteen years of innovative, dedicated and devoted service to the school children, |
1-3 |
parents and taxpayers he served so honorably; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, John L. Pini graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1964 with a |
1-5 |
B.A. Degree in English/Social Studies. He later attained an MEd in Education Technology in |
1-6 |
1972 from Boston College, and then began his distinguished career in education as a classroom |
1-7 |
teacher at Sharon High School in Massachusetts. In between he served his nation with distinction, |
1-8 |
honor and integrity in the United States Navy as an officer from 1964-1968; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, In 1972 John was named the Director of Instructional Media for the |
1-10 |
Rockland Public Schools in Massachusetts. He was then promoted to the position of Director of |
1-11 |
Projects in 1978 for the Rockland Public Schools and in 1984 he was named Assistant to |
1-12 |
Superintendent for the Rockland Public Schools; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, In 1988 John was named the Superintendent of Schools for the Whitman, |
1-14 |
Massachusetts, Public Schools, a position he held until being named the Superintendent of the |
1-15 |
Chariho Regional School District; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, In his various capacities as Superintendent, John has always been a reformer |
1-17 |
and an innovator. He has revised curriculums focusing extensively on core subjects and skills, has |
1-18 |
been responsible for the attainment of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant monies for his |
1-19 |
schools, has completed major building maintenance projects at all buildings and has approved |
2-1 |
capital repair articles in some, has created crisis management teams to provide a comprehensive |
2-2 |
system for dealing quickly and efficiently with all forms of crisis and tragedy, has emphasized |
2-3 |
professional development and better teacher training, and has developed comprehensive school |
2-4 |
system volunteer programs that have enriched the schools and have developed closer relations |
2-5 |
between parents, the community-at-large, and their local schools, teachers and administrators; |
2-6 |
now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-8 |
Providence Plantations hereby congratulates John L. Pini on his retirement as Superintendent of |
2-9 |
the Chariho Regional School District, we thank him for all he has done to ensure that each and |
2-10 |
every child received the best education possible, that the taxpayers monies under his control were |
2-11 |
spent wisely and efficiently, and we wish him a most happy retirement and continued success in |
2-12 |
all future endeavors; and be it further |
2-13 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-14 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. John L. Pini. |
