CONGRATULATING ROGER P. BOUDREAU ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 27 YEARS | |
OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE LINCOLN TEACHERS' | |
ASSOCIATION | |

     WHEREAS, Roger P. Boudreau is retiring after 27 years of unmatched commitment to |

improving education for students and dedicating his time and talents to the teachers in Lincoln, RI |
1-3 |
as President of the Lincoln Teachers' Association Local #1461 AFL-CIO; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Roger graduated from Classical High School, Providence and from Rhode |
1-5 |
Island College with a A.B. in Education and a M.A.T. in English. He completed the California |
1-6 |
Writers' Program from UCLA in addition to Post Graduate work in Education/Human |
1-7 |
Development also from UCLA; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, His career in education began in 1971 as a Secondary Education teacher of |
1-9 |
English/Humanities for the Lincoln School Department, with the exception of one year which he |
1-10 |
taught Social Studies at Our Lady Queen of Angels Middle School, Los Angeles, California, |
1-11 |
while working on his Post Graduate work at UCLA; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Boudreau spent many tireless years dedicating his time and |
1-13 |
talent to various clubs and organizations within education, including, President of the Lincoln |
1-14 |
Teachers' Association; Local #1461 AFL-CIO; RI Council Teachers of English, National Council |
1-15 |
Teachers of English, Humanities Forum of Rhode Island, Corresponding Secretary, Vice- |
1-16 |
President RI Federation of Teachers Executive Council and Personnel Committee; American |
1-17 |
Federation of Teachers, Resolutions Committee Chair/Delegate, Delegate Greater Woonsocket |
1-18 |
Labor Council, and Delegate RI AFL-CIO. Roger participated in numerous workshops, seminars, |
1-19 |
roundtables, and panels on Labor-Management relations, Collective Bargaining, and Dispute |

Resolutions. He has also been active in the professional arena serving on the Board of Directors |
2-2 |
for the Lincoln Town Employees Federal Credit Union from 1985 to 1995 and President from |
2-3 |
1990-1995; and |
2-4 |
     WHEREAS, Roger's selfless dedication to children and the human race as a whole, is |
2-5 |
evident from his participation in several charitable organizations beginning with the RI Special |
2-6 |
Olympics/Jamestown Penguin Club, Public Education Sector Coordinator for United Way of |
2-7 |
Southeastern New England, a coordinator for fundraising activities of MDA-Shamrocks for |
2-8 |
Dystrophy, coordinating fundraising activities for membership charities: Leukemia, American |
2-9 |
Heart, American Cancer Societies, board member and coordinator of fundraising activities for |
2-10 |
Fusion Works Dance Company; and |
2-11 |
     WHEREAS, After 27 years as Teacher and President of the Lincoln Teachers' |
2-12 |
Association, Mr. Boudreau has decided to retire. Although he will be greatly missed by many in |
2-13 |
the Lincoln School Department, his wife Christine and his daughter Trina look forward to the free |
2-14 |
hours he will have. He is an educational leader with a unique combination of intelligence, |
2-15 |
charisma, and experience; now, therefore be it |
2-16 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-17 |
hereby congratulates this extraordinary educator on the occasion of his retirement and wishes him |
2-18 |
the very best health and future happiness; and be it further |
2-19 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
2-20 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to President Roger P. Boudreau. |
