CONGRATULATING SCOTT R. WAGNER ON ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE

SCOUT TROOP 1139 -- SLATERSVILLE, RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, In a society that grows increasingly fragmented, and too often tempts its

youth to selfish and unwise decisions, it is a special young man who chooses to dedicate himself

1-3

to the service of others by practicing the noble ideals of the Scout Oath and Scout Law; and

1-4

     WHEREAS, In spite of peer pressure and other influences, there are those who rise above

1-5

the rest. Scott Wagner is just such a first-rate young man, and his accomplishment is truly

1-6

deserving of our recognition; and

1-7

     WHEREAS, Scott has earned 24 merit badges, including Fire Safety, First Aid,

1-8

Lifesaving, Communications, Personal Management and Fitness, Citizenship in the Community,

1-9

Nation and World, and more. He has also served as assistant patrol leader, historian,

1-10

quartermaster, senior patrol leader and troop instructor; and

1-11

     WHEREAS, A 2003 graduate of the North Smithfield Junior/Senior High School, Scott is

1-12

now attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in

1-13

Communications; and

1-14

     WHEREAS, For his Community Service Project, Scott created a Resource Center at the

1-15

North Smithfield Public Library where young people and their parents can go and learn about

1-16

youth programs that exist in the community. The funds for the project were raised with a concert

1-17

featuring four youth bands from Rhode Island, including his own; and

1-18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

1-19

Providence Plantations hereby honors Scott R. Wagner for all he has done to attain the rank of

2-1

Eagle Scout. Convinced that Scott's distinguished career in Scouting will prepare him for a life

2-2

replete with accomplishments and success, the membership is, likewise, certain he will continue

2-3

to dedicate a large part of that life to the service of others; and be it further

2-4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to

2-5

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Scott R. Wagner.
