CONGRATULATING THE NORTH SMITHFIELD XPRESS JUNIOR VARSITY | |
CHEERLEADERS FOR WINNING THE RHODE ISLAND PRE-TEEN CHEERLEADING | |

     WHEREAS, A fairytale season by the North Smithfield Xpress Junior Varsity |

Cheerleaders gives life to the Cinderella story; and |

     WHEREAS, It began in August 2003, when a group of girls set out to accomplish their |

most cherished goal of being recognized as the champions they are. Never before has a North |
1-5 |
Smithfield Xpress team ever ranked in the top 5 in the State Cheerleading Competition. Why |
1-6 |
wouldn't anyone think this group would do the unimaginable?; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, The University of Rhode Island's Keaney Gym was the setting for the Junior |
1-8 |
Varsity Rhode Island Pre-Teen Cheerleading Championship; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, The hard work, dedication and commitment on the part of the cheerleaders, |
1-10 |
along with their flawless performance, dazzled the judges and spectators. November 8, 2003 |
1-11 |
marked the first time in history this group had won a major title. People within the gym and |
1-12 |
perhaps even those in the surrounding areas were able to hear the joy and excitement the young |
1-13 |
girls felt as they heard with anticipation the Master of Ceremonies, announce, the Grand Champs |
1-14 |
are the North Smithfield Junior Varsity Xpress Cheerleaders; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, The long hot summer nights and cold fall evenings of repetitious cheers paid |
1-16 |
off for this special group of dedicated girls. The 2003 North Smithfield Junior Varsity Xpress |
1-17 |
Cheerleaders have now set a new image and a level of excellence which will be a standard for all |
1-18 |
to follow; and |
1-19 |
     WHEREAS, We would be remiss not to mention the individuals who dedicated their time |
2-1 |
and talent in bringing the Cheerleaders to victory. Head Coach Robin Beschi, Assistant Coaches, |
2-2 |
Ann Drewniak, Chris Martinelli and Denise Baker, Captain, Stacey Stevenin and Co-Captains |
2-3 |
Lindsey Beschi and Sarah Chambliss were all instrumental in successfully bringing the program |
2-4 |
to fruition. Their leadership and enthusiasm was unmatched; now, therefore be it |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-6 |
Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the North Smithfield Xpress Junior Varsity |
2-7 |
Cheerleaders and wishes them continued success in all their future endeavors; and be it further |
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
2-9 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Xpress Cheerleading coordinator, Sharon |
2-10 |
Marchand, Head Coach, Robin Beschi, and President Stephen Haganey of North Smithfield |
2-11 |
Xpress Football Association and Cheerleading Association. |
