CONGRATULATING CRISTIN LANGWORTHY ON HER GRADUATION FROM NORTH | |

     WHEREAS, Cristin Langworthy graduated from North Kingstown High School on June |
1-2 |
20, 2003, as a Rhode Island Governor's Honor Student and earning above average SAT scores; |
1-3 |
and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Cristin dedicated her time and finances in order to attend Georgetown |
1-5 |
University last summer, to study a course in Government and Communications. Her passion for |
1-6 |
politics fueled her founding of the first Rhode Island Chapter of the Junior States of America at |
1-7 |
North Kingstown High School. Through this innovative program, Cristin encouraged younger |
1-8 |
students to become involved in debates and politics. She traveled to Washington, DC, along with |
1-9 |
her advisor and four students, for the Junior States of America's National Debate Conference; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, Cristin Langworthy spent ten days in Honduras as a missionary, building |
1-11 |
houses and providing medical care to the needy. She has volunteered for two years at the Kent |
1-12 |
County Hospital emergency room, supports teens of divorced parents through a youth group at |
1-13 |
her church, and works at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Facility as a dietary aid. She also worked as a |
1-14 |
pollster for the Myrth York Campaign; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Cristin was Opinion Editor of the North Kingstown High School newspaper, |
1-16 |
which received the Providence Journal's 2nd Place Award. She was awarded 1st Place for her |
1-17 |
Feature Article; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, Cristin has accomplished great success, despite suffering from chronic |
1-19 |
Lyme Disease. She has been accepted into the University of Rhode Island's Political Science |

program for September, 2003; and |
2-2 |
     WHEREAS, The success of the State of Rhode Island, the strength of our communities, |
2-3 |
and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of |
2-4 |
young people like Miss Langworthy; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-6 |
hereby congratulates Cristin Langworthy on her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer |
2-7 |
leadership and community spirit, and extends best wishes for her continued success and |
2-8 |
happiness; and be it further |
2-9 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
2-10 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Cristin Langworthy. |
