CONGRATULATING PATRICK R. MORGAN ON ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE | |

     WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle. |

Strenuous physical hurtles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable |

spirit and a commitment to community service is a rare combination of qualities and |
1-4 |
achievements to find in one person. Patrick R. Morgan is just such an extraordinary young man |
1-5 |
and his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Patrick is a member of Troop 39, located in Summit, Rhode Island. With |
1-7 |
perseverance and determination, he has attained the highest rank in scouting, the Eagle by |
1-8 |
meeting all the extensive requirements; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Using his skills and abilities for the common good, Patrick has earned 30 |
1-10 |
Merit Badges, including the American Heritage; Athletics; Auto Mechanic; Camping; Canoeing; |
1-11 |
Cit In Nation; Cit In World; Communications; Cooking; Emergency Prep; Environmental |
1-12 |
Science; Family Life; First Aid; Golf; Indian Lore; Leatherwork; Lifesaving; Personal Fitness; |
1-13 |
Personal Management; Pioneering; Reptile/Amphibian; Rifle Shooting; Rowing; Small Boat |
1-14 |
Sailing; Sports; Swimming; Weather; Whitewater; and Wilderness Survival. He also earned the |
1-15 |
Arrow of Light Special Award in 1995; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, Patrick has established himself as an |
1-17 |
academically gifted student. On the honor roll every year since Kindergarten, he graduated from |
1-18 |
Coventry High School in 2002. Patrick now attends the University of Maine at Machias and is |
1-19 |
enrolled in the recreation management program. While in high school he was a member of the |
2-1 |
International Soccer Team. He continues to enjoy and is devoted to the sport of soccer, playing |
2-2 |
on the soccer team. In April, he went to Ireland to play for the team; and |
2-3 |
     WHEREAS, Patrick's Eagle Project was to take on the challenge of removing and |
2-4 |
replacing the ceiling tiles at the Historical Society Summit Hall for the Coventry Historical |
2-5 |
Society. He carried out his mission with determination and earnest devotion to the community; |
2-6 |
and |
2-7 |
     WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout requires considerable perseverance. This |
2-8 |
significant achievement is a landmark very few men will ever reach in their lives. Patrick R. |
2-9 |
Morgan upholds the dignity and virtue of a true Eagle and has proven himself to be worthy of |
2-10 |
trust and a truly dynamic leader; now, therefore be it |
2-11 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-12 |
hereby honors Patrick R. Morgan with pride and deep appreciation for his many outstanding |
2-13 |
accomplishments. We encourage him to grow, mature and continue to be the kind of determined |
2-14 |
and dedicated young man America needs; and be it further |
2-15 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
2-16 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Patrick R. Morgan. |
