A N A C T

RELATING TO NONPROFIT MEDICAL SERVICE CORPORATIONS

     

     

     Introduced By: Representatives McNamara, Montanaro, and Moura

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 27-20 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Medical Service

Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     27-20-15.1. Direct service employee compensation. – The state shall reimburse private,

nonprofit agencies, licensed by MHRH, which provide services and programs to individuals with

1-5

developmental disabilities at a rate which will allow them to compensate their direct service

1-6

employees with parity to state employees performing similar work. Reimbursement shall be

1-7

provided and increased at a rate calculated to provide that parity shall be reached in not more than

1-8

five (5) years.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would mandate that the state reimburse private, nonprofit agencies to allow them

to compensate their direct service employees at a rate equal to state employees who perform

2-3

similar functions, parity to be reached within five (5) years.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
