RELATING TO NONPROFIT MEDICAL SERVICE CORPORATIONS | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 27-20 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Medical Service |

Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |

     27-20-15.1. Direct service employee compensation. – The state shall reimburse private, |
1-4 |
nonprofit agencies, licensed by MHRH, which provide services and programs to individuals with |
1-5 |
developmental disabilities at a rate which will allow them to compensate their direct service |
1-6 |
employees with parity to state employees performing similar work. Reimbursement shall be |
1-7 |
provided and increased at a rate calculated to provide that parity shall be reached in not more than |
1-8 |
five (5) years. |

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
