CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE WILLIAM ZUCCARELLI | |

ON HIS 88TH BIRTHDAY | |

     WHEREAS, Senator Emeritus William B. Zuccarelli was born in New Haven, |
|

Connecticut on February 15, 1914; and |
|

     WHEREAS, Senator Zuccarelli was elected to the Senate on November 2, 1976, and |
|
1-4 |
served as Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Accounts and Claims, and also served as a |
|
1-5 |
member of the Joint Committee on Retirement, the Senate Committee on Judiciary, the Senate |
|
1-6 |
Committee on Labor, and as former Chairman of the 6th Senatorial Committee. He also served as |
|
1-7 |
Chairman of the City Planning Commission, and as a member of the Governor’s Advisory |
|
1-8 |
Commission on Hospital Care, Children and their Families, the Arson Task Force, the 6th Ward |
|
1-9 |
Committee, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Charitable Golf Tournament; and |
|
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, A truly dedicated public servant, Senator Zuccarelli served as a member of |
|
1-11 |
the board of directors of the Hemophilia Foundation, assistant director of the Citizens Local |
|
1-12 |
Alliance for More Protection, the Health Service Council, Federal Hill House and many more; |
|
1-13 |
and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, After 38 ½ years employed by the Uniroyal Corporation, Senator Zuccarelli |
|
1-15 |
retired from his position as production foreman; and |
|
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, Senator Emeritus Zuccarelli serves as mentor, every day at the State House, |
|
1-17 |
to all who seek his guidance, advice and words of wisdom; and |
|
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, A true joy to be with, Senator Zuccarelli loves playing cards, particularly |
|
1-19 |
gin with his pals, watching sports and golfing with buddies Peter McGinn, Senator John Coffey, |
|
1-20 |
Senator John McBurney and Senator Roger Badeau; and |
|
2-1 |
     WHEREAS, Senator Zuccarelli is a well-respected and loyal friend, a trusted and familiar |
|

face, on the Senate floor and in the halls of the State House. We thank him for being here; now |
|

therefore be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-5 |
hereby congratulates former Senator William B. Zuccarelli on the occasion of his 88th Birthday. |

We wish him, his wife of only 61 years Sweet-Adeline, daughters Diana and Sandra and all |
|
2-7 |
members of his family the very best health and future happiness; and be it further |
|
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
|

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable William B. Zuccarelli. |
