A N A C T

RELATING TO EDUCATION -- PRIVATE SCHOOLS

     Introduced By: Senators Roney, Roberts, and Irons

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-40 of the General Laws entitled "Private Schools" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     16-40-10.1. Katherine Gibbs School. -- Notwithstanding any rule, regulation or general

law to the contrary, the Katherine Gibbs School shall be authorized to grant associate degrees

1-5

provided that it is in compliance with the regulations and standards for approval adopted by the

1-6

board of regents for elementary and secondary education or the board of governors for higher

1-7

education, as appropriate.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
