CONGRATULATING THE NORTH KINGSTOWN BEECHWOOD HOUSE SENIOR | |
CENTER ON RECEIVING NATIONAL ACCREDITATION FROM THE NATIONAL | |

     WHEREAS, Promoting and maintaining the enjoyment, well-being, dignity and |

independence of citizens age 55 and older in the Town of North Kingstown is the mission of the |
1-3 |
Beechwood House Senior Center. The administrators, faculty, staff and volunteers recognize that |
1-4 |
older adults have unique needs, talents and interests. They also are aware that older adults are |
1-5 |
valuable assets to the community; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, The National Institute of Senior Centers states that Beechwood House is |
1-7 |
doing a commendable job serving older adults in the Town of North Kingstown. The recently |
1-8 |
developed National Accreditation and Standards Award from the National Council on Aging was |
1-9 |
recently bestowed upon Beechwood House Senior Center; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, In the past year the Senior Center served over 1,900 individuals through |
1-11 |
their five program components: Recreational, Educational, and Cultural Programs, Health and |
1-12 |
Wellness Programs, Social Services, Nutrition Services and Transportation; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Many factors contributed to the achievement of receiving National |
1-14 |
Accreditation. Worthy of praise are the center's location, the variety and creativity of its |
1-15 |
programs, the corps of committed volunteers, and its strong working relationship with the Town |
1-16 |
and the North Kingstown Senior Association; now, therefore be it |
1-17 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
1-18 |
Providence Plantations extends congratulations to the North Kingstown Beechwood House Senior |
1-19 |
Center on receiving National Accreditation from the National Council on Aging; and be it further |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-2 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Kathleen M. Carland, Director of Senior |
2-3 |
Services at the North Kingstown Beechwood House Senior Center. |
