EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SERGEANT JOHN J. SINOTTE

WHEREAS, John J. Sinotte, born on September 8, 1968, one of twelve children and a native of Pawtucket, RI.; and

WHEREAS, Brother Sinotte was a 12 year veteran of the Johnston Police Department. He was promoted to Sergeant on May 31, 2000; and

WHEREAS, During John's tenure, he served on the SRT Team, Dive Team, Honor/Color Guard and Awards Committee. Sergeant Sinotte held a Bachelors Degree in Administration of Justice from Roger Williams University, as well as, an Associates Degree from CCRI in Business Administration; and

WHEREAS, Brother Sinotte was the recipient of the departments meritorious conduct medal, in addition to, numerous letters of commendation for outstanding law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Above all, the honors Sergeant Sinotte received most meaningful was the one from Hasbro Children's Hospital Life Span Foundation for his outstanding devotion to the Child Protection Unit by organizing the Johnston Police Fund Raising Golf Tournament. The Providence Journal said it best when they said, "John J. Sinotte is the guiding force behind the Johnston Police Association's Golf Tournament." The tournament raised $40,000 for the Child Protection Team at Hasbro Children's Hospital; and

WHEREAS, John leaves behind his wife Jeanna who is due to have a child, daughter Abigail, parents Gerard and Janice, brothers and sisters: Gerry, Robert, Judith, Michael, Patricia, Marie, Kathleen, David, Thomas, Edward, Rosemary, and brother-in-law Robert DiPadua; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant John Sinotte known for his caring and loving devotion to all those who he touched, will be sorely missed by many; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby extends its deepest sympathy on the passing of Sergeant John J. Sinotte.
