RELATING TO THE RELOCATION OF THE KENT COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Introduced By:  Senators Blais, Breene and Raptakis Date Introduced:  May 24, 2000 Referred To:  Committee on Judiciary

WHEREAS, The Kent County Courthouse is in a state of disrepair and is unfit for the substantial case loads of the various courts using the premises; and

WHEREAS, Officials in the Rhode Island judicial system are considering the construction of a new courthouse and relocation to a new site; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate hereby requests the administration of the Rhode Island court system to consider the Almac's plaza located on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry, Rhode Island, as an alternate site for location of the Kent County Courthouse; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the secretary of state be and he is authorized and directed to submit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the chief justice of the Rhode Island supreme court.
