RELATING TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS -- TELLER TRANSACTION FEE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 19-3 of the General Laws entitled "Powers and Operations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

19-3-13.3. Teller assisted transaction fee. -- No banking institution, as defined in section 44-15-1, or credit union, as defined in section 44-15-1.1, shall charge or assess any fee to any person using the services of a teller to make a deposit or withdrawal of money from any account of the person with the institution or credit union.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

This act would prohibit any financial institution from charging a fee to depositors for teller assisted transactions.

This act would take effect upon passage.
