H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
CONGRATULATING JERRY VALE ON HIS LONG AND DISTINGUISHED SINGING CAREER
WHEREAS, Jerry Vale was born Genaro Louis Vitaliano on July 8, 1932 in the Bronx, New York City; and
WHEREAS, As a youth he studied piano and singing. He won a talent contest at the famous club Del Rio and shortly thereafter he was discovered by Guy Mitchell while performing at the enchanted room in New York; and
WHEREAS, Jerry's first hit single was "You can never give me back my heart" in 1953. He followed that up with 4 chart hitting singles in 1956 and had an astounding 6 hit top 40 albums from 1963 to 1966; and
WHEREAS, A romantic singer affectionately known as "The Silver Fox", Jerry is a frequent guest on the Letterman's Show and is called " The official good luck charm" for the "David Letterman Show"; and
WHEREAS, Jerry has become "The ambassador of song" for contemporary romantic music and as such performs approximately 30 times a year to sellout crowds at such venues as Yankee Stadium and Atlantic City; and
WHEREAS, Jerry is also a frequent guest on television shows and his music has appeared in numerous movies including "Goodfellas"; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Vale, the proud father of son Robert and daughter Pamela, resides in Beverly Hills with his wife Rita; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Jerry Vale for his long and distinguished career and wishes him a most joyous visit to Rhode Island; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jerry Vale.
