CONGRATULATING RUSSELL MORIN FINE CATERING ON THE 100TH | |
ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE COMPANY | |

     WHEREAS, Russell Morin Fine Catering has been a family business for four |

generations, and for a full century has provided extraordinary dining experiences for patrons |

throughout New England; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Since being founded as a 24-seat diner in 1911, Russell Morin Fine Catering |
1-5 |
has evolved and adapted to changing trends and economic conditions. Under the leadership of |
1-6 |
CEO Russell Morin, Jr., it has become the largest catering company in New England, with over |
1-7 |
300 employees; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Russell Morin Fine Catering is known throughout the region for providing |
1-9 |
fine food and superior customer service to a veritable “Who’s Who” of New England business, |
1-10 |
non-profit, and social circles at such varied venues as the Rhode Island State House, Newport |
1-11 |
Mansions, International Tennis Hall of Fame, Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet, Jonathan Edwards |
1-12 |
Winery, and many more; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, As Fine Catering by Russell Morin, the company has won numerous |
1-14 |
industry awards, including the 1999 RI Hospitality and Tourism Association’s “Caterer of the |
1-15 |
Year,” has twice been named to “the Knot” Best of Weddings, and also to Grace Ormonde |
1-16 |
Weddings’ “Platinum List”; and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Serving as the current and third generation owner since 1970, CEO Russell |
1-18 |
Morin, Jr., has established high standards of service, and his leadership has been recognized by |
1-19 |
the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, which selected him as the “2004 Small Business |
2-1 |
Leader of the Year”; and |
2-2 |
     WHEREAS, Morin’s Diner was highlighted for a national audience in 2009 on The Food |
2-3 |
Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” where it was identified as a venerable institution on |
2-4 |
South Main St. in Attleboro since 1930; and |
2-5 |
     WHEREAS, Russell Morin, Jr., recognizes that happy, loyal employees are the |
2-6 |
company’s greatest asset, and has established a set of core values which foster a feeling of mutual |
2-7 |
respect evident throughout the organization and a vow to “consistently exceed customer |
2-8 |
expectations”; and |
2-9 |
     WHEREAS, High standards and quality of service are emphasized regardless of budget, |
2-10 |
as chefs of every imaginable cuisine and specialty work with knowledgeable event coordinators |
2-11 |
to create incredible occasions and cherished memories; and |
2-12 |
     WHEREAS, Russell Morin, Jr., believes in giving back to the community, and has |
2-13 |
demonstrated his commitment by supporting local groups and non-profits like Pop Warner youth |
2-14 |
football leagues and the American Red Cross, and by supporting the farm-to-table movement by |
2-15 |
obtaining ingredients from local producers; now, therefore be it |
2-16 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-17 |
hereby recognizes and commemorates Russell Morin Fine Catering on the occasion of the one |
2-18 |
hundredth anniversary of the founding of the company; and be it further |
2-19 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-20 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Russell Morin, Jr. |
