CONGRATULATING SCOUTMASTER JOSEPH THOMAS DELPONTE ON RECEIVING | |

THE SILVER BEAVER AWARD | |

WHEREAS, The coveted Silver Beaver Award is bestowed on those exceptional |
|

individuals whose distinguished service as volunteer Scouts, working with young people in the |
|

Boy Scouts of America, has been admirable and noteworthy; and |
|
1-4 |
WHEREAS, Scoutmaster Joseph DelPonte is just such a fine gentleman and role model. |
|
1-5 |
For his accomplishments and outstanding service he will receive a miniature Silver Beaver hung |
|
1-6 |
from a blue and white ribbon, the highest honor that a local council can present to a volunteer; |
|
1-7 |
and |
|
1-8 |
WHEREAS, A Life Scout with Troop 84 Providence, Scoutmaster DelPonte has also |
|
1-9 |
held numerous positions within the scouting organization. He has served on the ASM Mohegan |
|
1-10 |
Council, was Scoutmaster of Troop 84 Providence from 1975 until 1979, and was the founding |
|
1-11 |
Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman of Troop 4 Meridianville Greater Alabama Council, to |
|
1-12 |
name just a few; and |
|
1-13 |
WHEREAS, At the District level, Scoutmaster DelPonte served as Unit Commissioner of |
|
1-14 |
the Netop District from 2001 through 2003, and within the community he has been the Vice |
|
1-15 |
President and Scholarship Chairman of the Lions Club; and |
|
1-16 |
WHEREAS, In addition to the Silver Beaver, Scoutmaster DelPonte has been honored |
|
1-17 |
with the District Award of Merit, the Scoutmasters’ Key Award, the National Scoutmaster |
|
1-18 |
Award, the Netop District Key 3 Award, and the Wood Badge Trained designation; and |
|
1-19 |
WHEREAS, Being awarded the Silver Beaver is a considerable achievement that very |
|

few men will ever earn in their lives. Scoutmaster DelPonte upholds the dignity and virtue of the |
|
2-2 |
Boy Scouts of America and has proven himself to be a true role model and a dynamic leader. His |
|
2-3 |
accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; now, therefore be |
|
2-4 |

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|

hereby joins the Boys Scouts of America Organization in recognizing Scoutmaster Joseph |
|
2-7 |
Thomas DelPonte for his innumerable contributions to that fine organization, and congratulates |
|
2-8 |
this outstanding gentleman on being honored with the Silver Beaver Award; and be it further |
|
2-9 |
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-10 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Scoutmaster Joseph DelPonte. |
