HONORING ALBERT DIFILIPPO, JR., ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT

     WHEREAS, Albert “Al” DiFilippo, a longtime member of the Providence Water Supply

1-2

Board and employee of the City of Providence for more than thirty-four years, has devoted his

1-3

considerable talents and energy to improving myriad "faucets" of life for the citizens of our

1-4

capitol city; and

1-5

     WHEREAS, Highly regarded among his peers, Mr. DiFilippo has been commended for

1-6

his dedicated, reliable, and capable work ethic, and is well known for taking work home on

1-7

weekends and in the evenings; and

1-8

     WHEREAS, Most recently, Mr. DiFilippo worked as the Supervisor of Facilities and

1-9

Equipment for Providence Water. He had previously worked for Providence Water as an

1-10

Engineering Project Coordinator, as the Supervisor of Support Services, and as a member of the

1-11

Providence Water Supply Board since 1985; and

1-12

     WHEREAS, Mr. DiFilippo began his career with the city in 1963, working for the

1-13

Providence Minimum Housing Department as a Housing Inspector. In 1967, he joined the staff of

1-14

Providence’s Planning and Urban Development Department as a Rehabilitation Specialist and

1-15

later, served as a Renewal Inspector; and

1-16

     WHEREAS, Leaving a legacy of commitment to public service, Mr. DiFilippo retired on

1-17

April 17th of 2011. He is an extraordinary man who has touched the lives and hearts of many

1-18

people and he is eminently worthy of our emulation and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it

1-19

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

1-20

Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and thanks Albert DiFilippo on the occasion of his

2-1

retirement after more than thirty-four years of steadfast and unselfish service to the people of the

2-2

City of Providence and the State of Rhode Island. We wish him good health, fulfillment, and

2-3

continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

2-4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-5

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Albert DiFilippo, Jr.
