CONGRATULATING DAVID P. LEYS OF MIDDLETOWN FOR BEING CHOSEN THE

"CITIZEN OF THE YEAR" BY THE NEWPORT LODGE OF ELKS #104

     WHEREAS, David P. Leys has a long and distinguished career in Newport County which

includes an extensive resume of volunteerism. He has served his community as a member of the

PSNC Board of Trustees, as a board member of the Rhode Island Arts Foundation Inc., and as

1-4

Chairman of Bank Newport; and

1-5

     WHEREAS, He served the Newport County Chamber of Commerce with honor and

1-6

distinction for many years. He was President in 1973, Treasurer for three terms and Director for

1-7

six terms. He also served as a Newport Fire Department Call Lieutenant for many years; now,

1-8

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

1-10

hereby congratulates Mr. David P. Leys for being chosen the "Citizen of the Year" by the

1-11

Newport Lodge of Elks #104. We thank him for his many years of devoted volunteer service to

1-12

the citizens of Newport County, and we wish him continued success in all future endeavors; and

1-13

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

1-15

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. David P. Leys.
