CONGRATULATING ROGER BOUCHARD ON BEING NAMED "CITIZEN OF THE

YEAR" BY THE KIWANIS CLUB OF WOONSOCKET

     WHEREAS, Roger Bouchard has been named the 56th “Citizen of the Year” by the

Kiwanis Club of Woonsocket for outstanding service to the community; and

     WHEREAS, A radio broadcaster for over thirty years, Roger has been co-owner and

1-4

president of WNRI since 2004. He even stepped out of the broadcast booth to play King Jace for

1-5

the Woonsocket Mardi Gras; and

1-6

     WHEREAS, Active in the community, Roger was a former chairman and Grand Marshal

1-7

of Autumnfest, a promoter of Woonsocket’s Milk Fund, a board member of the Stadium Theatre

1-8

Foundation, the YMCA of Greater Woonsocket, and the Woonsocket Rotary Club, and for the

1-9

past several years has hosted and broadcasted the Kiwanis Charity Auction; and

1-10

     WHEREAS, A Woonsocket native, Roger has a master’s degree in mass communications

1-11

from Emerson College and was a former president of the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association;

1-12

now therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

1-14

hereby congratulates Roger Bouchard on being named “Citizen of the Year” by the Kiwanis Club

1-15

of Woonsocket. We recognize this worthy achievement and congratulate Roger, his mother

1-16

Thelma, his brother Richard, his daughter Susan, and son Joseph and wish them the very best of

1-17

health and happiness; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-2

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Roger Bouchard.
