EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LT. JAMES A. PAGANO, CFD | |

     WHEREAS, Rhode Islanders are immensely proud of their local firefighters. This select |
1-2 |
group of men and women put their lives on the line every time they answer the call of a fire |
1-3 |
alarm. They carry their responsibilities with honor and courage, and so it is with utmost sadness |
1-4 |
and disbelief that an irrational act of violence led to the heartrending and untimely passing of Lt. |
1-5 |
James A. Pagano; and |
1-6 |
      WHEREAS, The circumstances of Lt. Pagano’s tragic passing will hopefully, in the days |
1-7 |
and months to come, not eclipse the amazing accomplishments of his life. He was a loving |
1-8 |
husband to his wife Adriana, a wonderful and caring dad to his children Adriana and Louis, and a |
1-9 |
devoted son to his parents Anthony and Rosealba. He was also blessed with a large and loving |
1-10 |
extended family, his sisters, Lisa and Jean, his mother-in-law Adriana, many brothers and sisters- |
1-11 |
in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews; and |
1-12 |
      WHEREAS, Lt. Pagano also leaves behind his “brothers” at Cranston’s Fire Station 3, |
1-13 |
where he had worked and learned and laughed throughout his fifteen-year career in the fire |
1-14 |
department, and where he had recently earned the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Pagano had always |
1-15 |
demonstrated integrity, diligence and professional conduct, and had easily earned the respect and |
1-16 |
loyalty of all who served with him; and |
1-17 |
      WHEREAS, The people of Cranston and neighboring communities have witnessed, |
1-18 |
benefited and enjoyed peace of mind because of Lt. Pagano’s reliability and loyalty, and it was |
1-19 |
that same noble trait of loyalty that kept James close with a group of his childhood friends known |
1-20 |
as the “Garden City Boys”; and |
2-1 |
      WHEREAS, Growing up in the cozy neighborhood of Garden City, with rolling green |
2-2 |
lawns and unlocked doors, the “GC Boys” forged bonds of friendship through ball games and |
2-3 |
days of skipping school. The deep bonds of camaraderie James shared with the “GC Boys” |
2-4 |
endured and enriched his life through the decades; and |
2-5 |
      WHEREAS, Devotion to his family, friends and the community was just a way of life |
2-6 |
for Lt. James Pagano, and he always tackled it with a smile on his face, laughter on his lips, and |
2-7 |
good nature in his heart. He consistently demonstrated that no goal was too vast and no amount |
2-8 |
of effort was too great. He was an extraordinary individual, and he will be deeply missed; now, |
2-9 |
therefore be it |

      RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-11 |
hereby recognizes and honors Lt. James Pagano for his dedication and commitment to serving |
2-12 |
and protecting the people of this state, and we express our deepest sympathies to the entire |
2-13 |
Pagano Family on his passing; and be it further |
2-14 |
      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-15 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Adriana Pagano and Family. |
