EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE | |
STEPHEN JOHN BRUNERO, ESQ. | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Stephen |

John Brunero, devoted husband of fifty-four years to “the love of his life” Elizabeth, and the |
1-3 |
loving father of Margaret Caspari and her husband, Dr. Robert Caspari, Stephen J. Brunero, Jr. |
1-4 |
and his wife Rhonda, our friend and colleague State Representative Elizabeth Dennigan, Esq. and |
1-5 |
her husband, Dr. Karl Machata, Mark Brunero and his wife, Deborah, and Carol Brunero-Hoxie |
1-6 |
and her husband, Joshua; and |
1-7 |
      WHEREAS, Born in Providence to the late Adella Maria and Stefano Brunero, Stephen |
1-8 |
was a long time resident of the Town of West Warwick. By the time he had reached twenty-two, |
1-9 |
he had graduated from LaSalle Academy, Providence College, and had earned his law degree, |
1-10 |
with honors, from Boston College Law School; and |
1-11 |
      WHEREAS, Stephen Brunero wore a myriad of hats over the course of his lifetime. He |
1-12 |
was a practicing attorney and a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association. He served our |
1-13 |
country with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, |
1-14 |
and he served Rhode Island as a State Representative for former District 96. In addition, he was |
1-15 |
also clerk of the House Committee on Corporations for many years; and |
1-16 |
      WHEREAS, Always an active and contributing member of the local community, |
1-17 |
Stephen was a past President of the Serra and Lion’s Clubs, past President and an active |
1-18 |
Commissioner of the West Warwick Housing Authority, President of the Board of Directors of |
1-19 |
the 825 Housing LP and the 845 Housing Corporation, a member of the Holy Name Society and a |
2-1 |
Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, Stephen enjoyed sailing and running, and |
2-2 |
was a true gentleman, scholar, and historian; and |
2-3 |
      WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for Stephen’s |
2-4 |
family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and the doting grandfather of thirteen |
2-5 |
beautiful grandchildren, Darcie, Sarah, Heidi, Kyla, Katie, Nicole, Jennifer, Matthew, Jason, |
2-6 |
Aaron, Austin, Alexander and the late Dominic. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and |
2-7 |
will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-9 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of the Honorable Stephen John Brunero, |
2-10 |
Esq.; and be it further |
2-11 |
      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-12 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Elizabeth Brunero and Family, and the |
2-13 |
Honorable Elizabeth Dennigan, Esq. and Family. |
