RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - DIVISION OF FIRE SAFETY | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 23-28.2 of the General Laws entitled "Division of Fire Safety" is |

hereby amended by adding thereto the following sections: |

     23-28.2-28. Failure to evacuate. -- It shall be unlawful for any person to remain inside |
1-4 |
any building when a fire alarm is activated. Failure to evacuate shall be punishable by a one |
1-5 |
hundred dollar ($100) fine. |
1-6 |
     23-28.2-29. Tampering with fire protection equipment. -- It shall be unlawful for any |
1-7 |
person to tamper with fire protection equipment, a violation of this section shall be punishable by |
1-8 |
a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) fine. |
1-9 |
     23-28.2-30. Access of fire alarm panels. -- Only licensed individuals may access fire |
1-10 |
alarm panels, a violation of this section shall be punishable by a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) |
1-11 |
fine. |
1-12 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

     This act would make it illegal to fail to evacuate a building when an alarm is activated, to |
