EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MICHAEL P. CONROY | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Michael |
|

P. Conroy, the devoted husband for six years to Dorothy “Dolly” Conroy, and formerly to the late |
|
1-3 |
Irene Conroy. He was the loving father and father-in-law of Michael and Trudy, and Kathleen |
|
1-4 |
and Ron. He was also the stepfather of twins, Cynthia and Pamela, and the doting grandfather of |
|
1-5 |
eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; and |
|
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Conroy was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, and took |
|
1-7 |
courses in Animal Husbandry at Michigan State. He was a Blacksmith by trade, but also raised, |
|
1-8 |
trained, showed and judged horses at Upson and Downs Stable in Portsmouth, and was a senior |
|
1-9 |
judge for the American Horse Show Association; and |
|
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, Serving his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy |
|
1-11 |
during World War II, Mr. Conroy was a second class Torpedo’s Mate stationed at Pearl Harbor. |
|
1-12 |
He was later employed as a Torpedo Technician at the Underwater Ordinance in Newport for |
|
1-13 |
twenty-six years, and as a machine apprentice for three years; and |
|
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Always actively contributing within the community, Mr. Conroy was a |
|
1-15 |
member of the Newport Horseman’s Association, a 4-H leader for the Aquidneck Riders, a |
|
1-16 |
lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Naval Underwater Retirement |
|
1-17 |
Association; and |
|
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for the entire |
|
1-19 |
Conroy Family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, |
|
1-20 |
and he enriched the lives of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered; |
|

now, therefore be it |
|

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
2-3 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Michael P. Conroy; and be it further |
|
2-4 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
2-5 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Dorothy Conroy and Family |
