S  E  N  A  T  E     R  E  S  O  L  U  T  I  O  N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE UNITED STATES SENATE PASS BILL S1921 AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT WITHIN THE SITE OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL OF A PLAQUE TO HONOR VIETNAM VETERANS WHO DIED AFTER THEIR SERVICE IN THE VIETNAM WAS, BUT AS A DIRECTOR RESULT OF THAT SERVICE

WHEREAS, The United States Congress passed Public Law 96-297 which authorized and created the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; and

WHEREAS, This memorial serves as a beacon to honor the brave men and women who died during the Vietnam conflict; and

WHEREAS, Many American soldiers suffered battle related deaths after their service in the Vietnam War, and even to this present day Veterans of the Vietnam War die as a result of injuries suffered there; and

WHEREAS, All Veterans that died as a result of their service in the Vietnam War should never be forgotten and the memory of their service and sacrifice to our nation should never be forgotten; now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests that the United States Senate pass Bill S1921 which authorizes the placement of a plaque within the Vietnam Veterans Memorial honoring Vietnam Veterans who died after their service in the Vietnam War, but as a direct result of that service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Rhode Island Delegation to the

United States Senate.
