It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. The town council of the town of Scituate shall be empowered to employ a building official/town engineer, a director of public works and a chief of police and to assign such compensation and other terms and conditions of employment, pursuant to any agreements by the town council and the employee.
SECTION 2. Said terms of employment shall not exceed a period of three (3) years.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
