It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 42-64 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
{ADD 42-64-33. Inventory of development sites. -- ADD} {ADD The corporation, in coordination with the statewide planning program shall maintain an inventory of potential sites for development and act as a clearinghouse for investors and businesses that want to expand or locate in Rhode Island. ADD}
{ADD Further, the corporation, in coordination with Rhode Island municipalities and local or regional development agencies, shall promote the re-use of abandoned and distressed industrial properties in the State, specifically those designated as brownfields and certified mill buildings. ADD}
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
