| PROCLAIMING MARCH OF 2024, TO BE "DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AWARENESS MONTH" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND |

| WHEREAS, In Rhode Island, approximately 4,000 individuals have developmental |
| disabilities; and |
| WHEREAS, There are 37 community agencies licensed by the Rhode Island Department |
| of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH), and/or certified |
| by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), that provide a range of services and |
| support systems for those with developmental disabilities in the State of Rhode Island; and |
| WHEREAS, For more than thirty years, Rhode Island has been a leader in providing and |
| advancing services for the developmentally disabled community; and |
| WHEREAS, Individuals with developmental disabilities strive to be contributing |
| members of their community, including attaining employment; and |
| WHEREAS, The establishment of March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness |
| Month has promoted the ongoing endeavor to educate the citizens of this State about the myriad |
| contributions made by those with developmental disabilities; now, therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims March of |
| 2024, to be "Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month" in our State. We furthermore |
| encourage all our State's residents to join in recognizing the importance of this month; and be it |
| further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Tina Spears, MPA Executive |
| Director of CPN-RI. |
