| H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N |
| CELEBRATING AND RECOGNIZING ADAMSVILLE'S THIRD ANNUAL "WORLD'S SHORTEST ST. PADDY'S DAY PARADE" |

| WHEREAS, Beginning somewhat in jest, the Adamsville “World’s Shortest St. Paddy’s |
| Day Parade” is once again stepping down Main Street, for a very brief interlude, to the delight of |
| hundreds of residents from around the village and neighboring areas, in a short but festive display |
| of Irish fun, spirit and good humor; and |
| WHEREAS, Beginning at 3pm, the old, young, and young-at-heart will gather on stone |
| walls and the roadside that borders the 89-foot procession route, in order to witness traditional |
| Irish dancers, the traditional fiddle band Scottish Fish, "The Governor's own" 88th Army Band, as |
| well as motorcycles and ponies, in this much anticipated celebration led by the Grand Marshalls, |
| Diane and David MacGregor; and |
| WHEREAS, Following the parade, in what has grown into a day-long event, many |
| attendees settle in for a post-parade party with live music, an Irish corned beef and cabbage |
| dinner, and plenty of Guinness liberally flowing; and |
| WHEREAS, In the true spirit of Irish generosity, monies generated from the event are |
| donated to food banks in Little Compton, Tiverton, Westport and Fall River; and with more than |
| $10,000 contributed in 2023, organizers are certain that this year’s amount will certainly set a |
| new record; now, therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
| recognizes and applauds Adamsville's “World’s Shortest St. Paddy’s Day Parade” and hopes for |
| many more decades of this wonderful celebration; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Chuck Kinnane, founder of the parade. |
