| H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N | 
| PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 27, 2024, TO BE "NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ENROLLED AGENTS (NAEA) DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND |

| WHEREAS, The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) was founded in the | 
| United States in 1972, and has a current membership of approximately 11,000; and | 
| WHEREAS, The enrolled agent profession dates back to 1884 when, after questionable | 
| claims had been presented for Civil War losses, Congress acted to regulate persons who | 
| represented citizens in their dealings with the United States Treasury Department; and | 
| WHEREAS, The mission statement of the NAEA is to serve as advocates in support of | 
| our nation’s hardworking taxpayers. NAEA agents assists taxpayers with their annual filing of tax | 
| returns, and with complex issues such as audits, liens, levies, appeals and collections. NAEA | 
| agents are licensed by the United States Department of the Treasury and are authorized to serve | 
| as agents for taxpayers in their dealings with the United States Internal Revenue Service; and | 
| WHEREAS, The Enrolled Agent has been of great service to both the Rhode Island | 
| taxpayers and to the Rhode Island Division of Taxation. Their knowledge, professionalism, and | 
| integrity make the Enrolled Agent “America’s Tax Expert”; and | 
| WHEREAS, The NAEA is also an advocacy group that works closely with the United | 
| States Congress, the IRS, and taxpayer groups to ensure that all taxpayers are fairly represented in | 
| all proceedings with the IRS; and | 
| WHEREAS, The NAEA also offers mentoring programs for students exploring their | 
| career options and enrolling in accounting and business courses, scholarships for those looking to | 
| expand their expertise within the areas of tax preparation and IRS representation, and career | 
| planning advice for NAEA agents; now, therefore be it | 
| RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby | 
| proclaims February 27, 2024, to be “National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) Day” in | 
| the State of Rhode Island; and be it further | 
| RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to | 
| transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Franklyn Bratini of Bratini Associates | 
| Enterprises LLC. |
