| RELATING TO EDUCATION -- SCHOOL COMMITTEES AND SUPERINTENDENTS (SEE TITLE 16 CHAPTER 97 -- THE RHODE ISLAND BOARD OF EDUCATION ACT) |

| It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: |
| SECTION 1. Chapter 16-2 of the General Laws entitled "School Committees and |
| Superintendents [See Title 16 Chapter 97 - The Rhode Island Board of Education Act]" is hereby |
| amended by adding thereto the following section: |
| 16-2-36. Orientation. |
| All public schools shall, prior to September 1 of each year, make every effort to provide |
| written notice to parents, guardians, or caretakers of students inviting those parents, guardians, or |
| caretakers to attend orientation at the school within thirty (30) days from the start of the school |
| year. |
| SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
