RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES - GENERAL POWERS - RETIREMENT OF MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

 

SECTION 1. Chapter 36-10.1 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Public Employee Pension Revocation and Reduction Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

36-10.1-5. Municipal employee pension revocation and reduction. – The superior court shall have jurisdiction to review any decisions, appeals, or other proceedings initiated pursuant to any municipal ordinance providing for the revocation or reduction of the pension of any municipal employee for circumstances constituting dishonorable service as defined by municipal ordinances.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and shall apply to all pending proceedings under any municipal ordinance as provided herein.
