RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES--PURCHASING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 45-55 of the General Laws entitled "Award of Municipal

Contracts" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

45-55-17. Penalties. -- Any person who knowingly and intentionally violates any

provision of this chapter shall be subject to a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than

five hundred dollars ($500), or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
