A N A C T
RELATING TO
CRIMINAL OFFENSES - FRAUD AND FALSE DEALING

It is enacted by the General
Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 11-18 of the General Laws entitled
"Fraud and False Dealing" is
hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
11-18-1.3. False statement to fraudulently obtain license or
registration. -- Any
person who shall knowingly and intentionally prepare, file
or cause to be filed with the division
of motor vehicles, or any employee or agent of the
division of motor vehicles, any application,
statement or affidavit in writing which is knowingly false in
any important particular, and which,
to his or her knowledge, is intended to fraudulently
induce or cause the department or its
employees or agents, to issue a registration or license, shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon
conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than
one year, or by a fine of not
more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or both.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
