A N A C T

RELATING TO REGULATION OF BOATS -- FLOTATION DEVICES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 46-22-9.2 of the General Laws in Chapter 46-22 entitled

"Regulation of Boats" is hereby amended to read as follows:

46-22-9.2. Flotation devices -- Children. -- Any person transporting a child ten (10)

under thirteen (13) years of age or under in a recreational vessel less than twenty-six (26) sixty-

five (65) feet in length on the waters of this state shall require that the child wear a personal

flotation device approved by the United States coast guard when underway, unless below deck or

in a closed cabin.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
