A N A C T

RELATING TO CASUALTY INSURANCE RATING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 27-9-5.1 of the General Laws in Chapter 27-9 entitled "Casualty

Insurance Rating" is hereby amended to read as follows:

27-9-5.1. Uniform safe driver point system. -- The director of the department of

business regulation is authorized and empowered to promulgate rules and regulations regarding a

uniform safe driver point system either on a flat dollar rate or on a percentage rate for motor

vehicle accidents and/or motor vehicle convictions without regard to age, sex, or the location of

the garaging of the motor vehicle. Those rules shall be promulgated in accordance with the

Administrative Procedures Act, chapter 35 of title 42.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
