A N A C T
RELATING
TO FIXING THE DATE AND TIME FOR HOLDING THE ANNUAL TOWN
MEETING
IN JAMESTOWN

It is
enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION
1. Section 3 of chapter 612 of the 1910 Public Laws entitled “An Act in
Relation
to the Election of Certain Officers in the Town of Jamestown” as amended in
1994 is
further
amended to read as follows:
“Sec.
3. The electors of the town of Jamestown qualified to vote upon any proposition
to
impose
a tax or for the expenditure of money in said town shall annually, on the first
Monday of
March,
at 7:00 P.M. in the afternoon, in the evening, and commencing in 2005
on the first
Monday
of June at 7:00 p.m. in the evening, assembly in town meeting for the purpose of
hearing
the
reports of its officers, ordering a tax, making appropriations and transacting
any other
business
relating to the town. No motion or resolution for the expenditure of money in
said town
shall
be acted upon at such financial town meeting unless such motion or resolution
shall have
first
been filed with the town clerk at least ten (10) days before the last regular meeting
of the
town
council held previous to such financial meeting, and notice of the pendency
thereof shall be
included
in the warrant for the holding of such financial meeting issued in accordance
with law.”
SECTION
2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
