RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 45-55-5.2 of the General Laws in Chapter 45-55 entitled "Award of Municipal Contracts" is hereby amended to read as follows:

45-55-5.2. Town of North Smithfield -- Exemption -- The town of North Smithfield is exempt from the provisions of this chapter with regard to the contracting for fire and rescue services with the Primrose Volunteer Fire Department and/or North Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department and/or their successors and assigns.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
