RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- FALSE PERSONATION

: January 27, 2000It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 11-14-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-14 entitled "False Personation" is hereby amended to read as follows:
11-14-1. Impersonation of public officer -- Every person who shall falsely assume or pretend to be a judge, justice of the peace, warden, sheriff, deputy sheriff, alderman, member of any city or town council, city or town clerk, city sergeant, constable, correctional officer, marshal or deputy marshal, or any other officer of any city or town in this state, and shall act as such, shall be imprisoned not exceeding one year or be fined not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000).
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
